PHP Security Updates & WordPress Support

Concerned about your website or business application? Start with an assessment, understand what needs attention, and plan the update with WSI.

WordPress sites · Custom PHP applications · Legacy systems

Check the server, too.

A WordPress update alone does not fix these PHP issues.

Ask your hosting provider.

Your host may already have applied the required patches.

Have an older application?

Coordinate compatibility testing and prompt remediation with your host.

Three practical
next steps.

You do not need to diagnose this alone. Gather the basics, then work with your host or technical team on a plan.

Not sure where to start? Talk with WSI ↗
  1. Identify your environment.

In WordPress, go to Tools → Site Health → Info → Server to find the PHP version. For a custom application, ask your administrator or host. WordPress guidance ↗

  2. Confirm the patch status.

Ask your host whether both CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619 are addressed. A version number alone may not show a vendor’s backported fix. PHP advisory ↗

  3. Agree on the work and validation.

List the workflows your business depends on: sign-in, contact forms, payments, file uploads, and integrations. Coordinate backups, testing, deployment, and recovery promptly with your host. If patching cannot happen immediately, ask your host or security team about temporary containment; compatibility planning should not leave a vulnerable site exposed.

How WSI can help

Address today’s issue.
Plan for what comes next.

Bring us your website, application, or hosting questions. We’ll help define the right scope of work.

01 / ASSESS & UPDATE

PHP and WordPress update support

Make an informed decision about the next change to your site. An assessment can help clarify responsibilities and the technical work involved.

  • Review the application and hosting environment.
  • Coordinate the update plan with your hosting provider.
  • Identify compatibility concerns and key workflows to test.
  • Define follow-up maintenance needs.
02 / REPAIR & MODERNIZE

Legacy application upgrade planning

If an older application makes updating difficult, start with the business functions it needs to preserve. Discuss targeted repairs, an upgrade, or a broader modernization plan.

  • Review the code, dependencies, and integrations.
  • Identify features affected by a PHP version change.
  • Compare repair and modernization options.
  • Plan the transition around business priorities.

A practical engagement: discuss the situation → define the assessment → agree on scope and cost → plan the work.

Beyond the immediate update

When patching becomes a recurring business problem

If your PHP application depends on obsolete components or repeatedly breaks during upgrades, WSI can help compare targeted repairs, improved hosting, and migration to Microsoft .NET. A migration assessment complements prompt security updates; it does not replace them.

Common questions

What this means
for your business.

A security advisory is a reason to check your environment. It is not proof that your site has been breached.

Is this only a WordPress problem?

No. The vulnerabilities affect PHP installations serving web requests, including custom applications. WordPress is one application built on PHP. Read the WordPress notice.

Do I need to replace my website?

Replacement should follow an assessment of your application and business needs. Ask whether an update is compatible with your existing site before deciding on a larger project.

What if I use an older PHP version?

PHP 8.1 and earlier no longer receive regular upstream updates. Ask your vendor about available fixes and plan a supported upgrade. Check PHP’s current guidance.

What if I see unexpected API charges?

Contact your API provider and technical team promptly to review usage and potential credential exposure. Do not assume a billing spike came from this PHP issue. Include the concern when you contact WSI, without sharing keys or passwords.

What should I send WSI?

Your website address, hosting provider, PHP version if known, and a brief description of the concern. Mention any business-critical functions or recent errors. Access arrangements can be discussed separately.

Let’s work through it

Start with a PHP
security assessment.

Tell us what you run and what concerns you. WSI can review the situation with you and help identify a practical next step.

Information checked October 22, 2026. Security guidance can change. Confirm current instructions and package status with the PHP project and your hosting provider.
