Washington Health Foundation
Spotlight Client
Late
last year WSI was contacted by the Washington Health Foundation (www.whf.org).
Washington Health Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Seattle,
Washington. Their purpose is to make Washington State the healthiest state in
the nation. They are working with providers, leaders and local communities on
the largest civic engagement project in state history. Currently the State of
Washington is ranked 15th on the United Health Foundation, America's Health:
State of Health Rankings.
The ability to track citizens' healthy activities through their web site
plays a crucial role in quantifying peoples' efforts and tracking the positive
impact they are making on wellness in their state.
Winning Solutions, Inc. has a long and successful history of working with
similar organizations including the Pennsylvania State Games, Iowa Games and
Lighten Up Iowa. These past successes played a major role in Washington Health
Foundation's selection process.
For WSI this was a very typical project, it had a very tight dead line and
fixed budget. As is usually the case we were able to come through and deliver
the functionality promised on time and on budget.
WSI would like to acknowledge the people at WHF for their efforts to make
this possible. They were an excellent client to work with. Prior to engaging
Winning Solutions, Inc. the foundation retained the services of an experienced
Information Technology consultant, Wade Lance. Mr. Lance's job was to guide them
through the complexities of successfully completing this type of project. Mr.
Lance was instrumental in developing documentation of the Foundation's
requirements and serving as a liaison between WHF and WSI.
WSI has been asked to perform additional work for WHF adding new features and
functions to their site. WSI also manages the hosting of the website as well as
the associated database. The site includes numerous forms, online payment
acceptance, automated email list management, user login, user management and
real time display of multiple forms of information.
Given that Microsoft's home office is also in the State of Washington, we
were not surprised that WHF wanted the project developed using the latest
Microsoft .NET technology available at the time. The excellent Microsoft
software development tool set and solid, scalable server technology provided a
solid base for Winning Solutions, Inc. to build on. Server technology used for
this product included Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft SQL Server
2000. Development tools included Microsoft Visual Studio .NET and Dreamweaver.
It is hoped that the continued success of this and the other similar projects
will lead to additional engagements of this type. Winning Solutions, Inc. also
has an established history of working with private sector companies within the
sports fitness industry, including Boston based Fitsense.
